The Best Little Wine Shop in Bowling Green, Kentucky, is located in the oldest building on Fountain Square at 902 State Street. The cozy space we’ve filled with wine and gifts was at one time the staircase to the upstairs residence in the Quigley-Younglove Building. Our name and logo pay homage to its history and original arched doorway.

Meet Bill

Bill Kehrwald is a twenty-year veteran of the food and beverage industry, which lured him away in the middle of a master’s degree in English literature at the University of Louisville. He loves wine, food, and reading and writing about wine and food.

After working in various roles at 21c Hotel, the English Grill, and wine retail, he began a short-lived career as an on-premise specialist with a distributor, where he focused on introducing interesting wines to restaurants and bars in Louisville.

In 2020, two important things happened: COVID restrictions shaped his job into something more miserable, and he met the woman who brought him to Bowling Green.

Staircase Wine Shop opened its doors in June 2024, and now, Bill gets to help you find wines you love and explore new favorites five days a week. It’s a pretty good life.
